Category : Avid Media Composer
Have shot some H.265 video with Samsung NX1/NX500 or DJI Phantom/Inspire/Mavic Pro camera and wish to load them into Avid Media Composer. However, you may be disappointed to find that your Avid Media Composer lacks the ability to deal with this new codec. How to fix that? The following will show how to get a smooth workflow of H.265 video with Avid Media Composer.
Download Media Composer AMA plugin for H.265
Some people suggest to download a Media Composer AMA plugin for handling the H.265 files, however, from AMA plugin page, we don’t find the plug-in for H.265 files. In addition, Avid Media Composer isn’t going to make any update with support for this new codec.
Transcode H.265 to DNxHD for Avid Media Composer
Since the AMA plug-in doesn’t work, therefore, the most effective solution is transcoding H.265 to Avid Media Composer supported file formats. For those people who wish to get a high quality and high performance workflow, we highly recommend you to transcode H.265 to DNxHD codec, a lossy high-definition video post-production codec developed by Avid for multi-generation compositing with reduced storage and bandwidth requirements.
